How to Choose Quality Historical Data»

  • Hello, traders! I am new to backtesting and am having trouble choosing the right historical data. Forex Tester has both free and paid data packages. The free ones are limited to 18 pairs and are updated monthly, while the paid ones offer up to 860 symbols and daily updates. Can anyone help me figure out which option is better to start with? Thanks in advance!

  • If you are just starting out in trading, the free historical data from forextester.com/blog/forex-historical-data can be useful for getting familiar with the basics. It includes 18 popular currency pairs and is updated monthly. However, if you are looking for more detailed analysis and strategy testing, you may want to consider the paid subscriptions. They provide access to 860 symbols, including exotic currencies, metals, indices and stocks, and offer tick-by-tick data and daily updates. This is especially important for scalpers and traders using algorithmic strategies. Paid packages provide higher quality data, which facilitates more accurate testing and increases trading efficiency.

  • Choosing the right historical data is an important step for successful trading. Quality data allows you to accurately test strategies and make informed decisions. Free data packages are suitable for initial familiarization, but for more in-depth analysis and accurate testing, paid subscriptions are recommended. They provide a wider selection of symbols, tick-by-tick accuracy and regular updates, which facilitates more efficient trading.
